Case Study 002: Newton Drive
Completion November 2018
This was a turnkey project managed by ourselves to remove an existing lift in a staircase in a listed building on behalf of Contour Homes.
Established in April 2018, Onward (formerly known as Symphony Housing Group) brought together five housing associations – Contour Homes, Liverpool Housing Trust, Hyndburn Homes, Peak Valley Housing Association and Ribble Valley Homes – under one simple group structure. Onward, are a leading provider of quality, affordable homes for rent and sale in the North West. From Southport to Stockport, they own and manage over 35,000 homes right across the region. They offer help and support to vulnerable people facing a range of challenges, and create strong and vibrant communities that their customers can be proud to be a part of.
The old lift was removed, all builders preparation work carried out and the new modern standards platform lift fitted including electrical works and making good.
The challenge with this project was primarily down to be a listed building, despite its beauty and grandeur was that the staircase was an old decorative oak staircase and due to the listed building we had to renovate the staircase and replace sections to match the original existing joinery work and finish.
The lift was tested and all Operations and Maintenance manuals passed to the customer and all completed within the programme a week early.
