Case Study 004: Onward Housing – Mitford Court
Completion June 2018
This was a turnkey CDM project to remove an old platform lift and install a new 8 person passenger MRL (motor room less lift) traction VVVF drive lift within the restrictions of the existing allocated space on behalf of Onward housing.
Established in April 2018, Onward (formerly known as Symphony Housing Group) brought together five housing associations – Contour Homes, Liverpool Housing Trust, Hyndburn Homes, Peak Valley Housing Association and Ribble Valley Homes – under one simple group structure. Onward, are a leading provider of quality, affordable homes for rent and sale in the North West. From Southport to Stockport, they own and manage over 35,000 homes right across the region. They offer help and support to vulnerable people facing a range of challenges, and create strong and vibrant communities that their customers can be proud to be a part of.
This project had lots of challenges which required solutions and good management of the project throughout. It was an occupied building for the elderly, had restricted access to the lift area, the lift shaft walls had to be built and tied into existing building structure and a new shaft extension through the roof to provide the required lift headroom. The works were all made good and decorated to match.
We installed temporary stair lifts to enable access to all floors for the less able for the duration of the project.
The lift was installed and tested to modern standards and certified for public use.
